What summer would be complete without freezer pops?
I remember when I was a little girl, and the only time I could hope for a freezer pop was if the Ice Cream Man came down our street. Some days, my mom would give me some change, and we would run to buy one of our favorite freezer pops, picking them from the pictures on the side of the Ice Cream Truck.
There are no Ice Cream Trucks coming down our rural street, and even if they did, have you seen the price of these pops now???!!! Outrageous!
That’s OK because we can make our own delicious freezer treats at home. It’s super simple, and you can make them much more healthy than the sugar laden versions of our day. Here’s how I make my Fruit Filled Yogurt Freezer Pops:
Fruit Filled Yogurt Freezer Pops
- Fruit of your choice (blueberries and strawberries are our favorite)
- Yogurt (Greek or regular )
- Milk (cow, almond, rice, soy, or coconut)
- Sugar (brown or white)
Mix all of the ingredients together by hand.
Pour mixture into freezer pop molds and freeze until solid.
It is a good idea to taste the mix before you freeze it to gauge the flavor. Add sugar to taste. Depending on the sweetness of the yogurt and fruit, you may need to add more or less.
I made a batch using frozen fruit AND some leftover summer fruit salsa. Watch how I do it here:
